First Kids' Day at Umicore in Schwaebisch Gmuend
“What does my father’s or mother’s workplace look like? What working tools does my father use every day? Who is my mother's boss?” Umicore employees’ children received answers to these questions at the first Umicore Kids’ Day in March, 2009. Accompanied by their mother or father, they visited offices and storage rooms, and spoke with colleagues and supervisors. They also wrote e-mails, worked with microscopes, inspected metal samples and got answers to many curious questions.
To complete the event, everyone spent the rest of this exciting afternoon together and enjoyed food and drinks in the cafeteria. All children were given a certificate and a small gift in recognition of their successful participation in the Umicore Kids’ Day. They went home with their parents, happy and full of interesting impressions of what they had seen.
