To add to our valuable team of dedicated employees, Umicore is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician for our Technical Materials business unit located in Glens Falls, NY.

Job Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot and repair components of all production equipment and building infrastructure to prevent and/or minimize downtime

  • Develop and maintain PM schedule for equipment and/or building

  • Plan or assist in setup and installation of new equipment and/or equipment components; Further plan or assist in dismantling obsolete equipment and/or components

  • Set up and operate a variety of shop equipment to include operational maintenance of waste water treatment equipment

  • Recommend and/or implement methods or system improvements to increase operational efficiency including up time and quality of products and services

  • Interface with vendors and/or contractors to ensure proper repair, replacement or installation and operation of machine and/or building components

  • Ensure a safe, clean and organized working environment by utilizing 5S Standards. Posses’ and reinforces positive safety awareness/behaviors. Continually support safety programs in line with Umicore Goals

  • Performs other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business


High School Diploma or GED

  • 2 Year Degree or 5+ years experience in Industrial Mechanics

  • Demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools, as well as technical testing equipment consistent with the Industrial Maintenance field

  • Demonstrated ability to design and plan equipment installations

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics

  • Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Welding and fabrication ability required

  • Previous experience using lathes and vertical mills and surface grinder

  • Previous Waste Water experience a plus

  • Electrical experience including Variable Frequency Drives, PLC and Motor Control along w/ all types of electrical phasing

  • Computer literacy – Preferably with Microsoft Office (excel, word, outlook)

  • Knowledge of 5S

  • Forklift certification desired

  • Strong commitment to safety & quality

  • Excellent communication skills – Verbal and written
