Team Players

Formula Student East

Euro-Ring circuit in Hungary (Györ). Established in 2016 and listed as World Ranking List Event. The competition also provides the chance for FS teams from the Eastern European region to compete in an international environment by offering half of the slots for them, the other half for teams from all over the world. We, as eMotorsports Cologne could register ourselves by taking part in a registration quiz successfully (finished the quiz third overall). It will be the first official event for Umicore Loup and the team in this season.

Formula Student Germany

Hockenheimring in Germany. Established in 2006 and this will be the 11th episode of FSG in 2017. eMotorsports Cologne takes part every year (except 2014) since the first electric- episode in 2010. This event marks the highlight of the season, as it has become the world’s biggest event of its kind and with 115 competing vehicles in total. This year there is the world’s first FS-driverless class which promises a lot of excitement.

Formula Student Spain

Circuit de Barcelona- Catalunya in Spain (Barcelona). Established in 2010. This event takes place in the end of summer every year and is seen as a season-ending. The warm weather and the friendly atmosphere convinces us every year to take part in this special events. We won the BEST TEAM WORK Award in 2015, because our car crashed during an acceleration run on Saturday and we were able to fully repair it for Sunday’s endurance and could finish it as one of only 9 electric teams.

We don’t know if it has something to do with the unbeatable racing spirit of our teams (or maybe with their acceleration skills) 😉, but this past Powered by Umicore year went by sooooo fast! A big thanks to all of you for following the adventures of Umicore Electra ULg, TH Köln - eMotorsports Cologne, Formula Electric Belgium, S&T Formula Electric Racing and UAntwerp Solar Boat Team!

It may look like just a plain yellow box, but this box contains the heart of Umicore Electra ULg's car: the battery. The battery stores chemical energy and converts it into the needed electricity to keep the car going. In combination with the motor controller, they make the perfect team to ensure that no energy is wasted.⚡
