One laptop per child

The non-profit organization One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) focuses on providing an educational tool to children in developing countries, especially those living in remote locations. The low cost, energy efficient and rechargeable laptops help provide education to children between 6 and 12 years old. The youngsters are even taught to repair their own computer and recharge it with solar panels that are provided with. OLPC reaches more than two million primary school children in 42 countries.

Umicore contributed to OLPC by giving one euro for each 2011 Umicore Group greetings card or calendar provided to our employees around the world. In total, Umicore contributed € 9,825.
