Americana, Brazil: A better life for girls
Vida Melhor means “better life” in Portuguese. And that’s just what the Vida Melhor Project is bringing to girls in the city of Americana, Brazil. Removed from their homes by the childhood prosecuting attorney, seventeen girls aged 12 to 17 are living together in a safe and supportive environment.
The Automotive Catalysts plant in Americana supports the project. It also pays for visits by a psychologist, which allows the girls to discuss their situations and clarify their doubts. In addition, a group of ten employees regularly volunteers by playing sports, developing handcrafts and talking to the girls, giving them the attention they need.
Umicore Americana volunteers develop handicrafts with the girls at the Vida Melhor Project.
