Hanau, Germany: Investing in the future
In today’s rapidly changing environment, it is more important than ever for children to be educated in a way that gets them ready for a world that doesn’t yet exist. For this reason Automotive Catalysts in Hanau helps a local school to offer a special type of class that introduces the children to applied informatics, mathematics, physics and mechanical engineering. In a team-based learning programme, children get to design, build and programme real robots, and so acquire knowledge that they would not gain via the regular curriculum.
The school offers classes for children from 12 to14. Automotive Catalysts sponsors these courses by providing education base sets and the school licence for the software, education resource sets, temperature sensors and a storage cabinet for all the equipment. So far, the kids and teachers have been very enthusiastic and Umicore in Hanau hopes to help even more children in the future.
