Arab, USA: Colleagues help colleagues
Last April tornadoes and storms struck the south-eastern part of the USA. In Alabama, the worst-hit state, the tornado devastated the city of Tuscaloosa, some 125 miles from our Cobalt & Specialty Materials plant in Arab.
One month later, tornadoes struck the town of Joplin in Missouri, some 15 miles from our Electro-Optic Materials plant in Quapaw, Oklahoma.
When severe storms and tornadoes
afflicted the region, Cobalt & Specialty Materials colleagues in Arab, USA, went through difficult times. Although no employees were hurt, many suffered material damage at their houses. Roads were blocked, fuel was scarce and shops were closed.
Two Building Products colleagues from Raleigh, volunteered to drive a VM ZINC truck to Arab with food, battery torches and children’s clothing.
After a 600 mile drive, our colleagues met each other, one happy to give, and the other glad to accept this much appreciated and needed gift.
