Germany: Umicore wins work and family certificate
Umicore not only aims to be product leader. Underpinned by The Umicore Way, the company also wants to be a preferred employer.
Its efforts were publicly recognised on 19 June at an awards ceremony in Berlin, Germany, where Umicore accepted the Berufundfamilie® work and family audit certificate. Present were Ursula von der Leyen, Germany’s Federal Minister for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth; and Dagmar Wöhrl, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology.
Umicore is the first industrial corporation in the region to obtain this award. It acknowledges our family-minded personnel policy at the German sites in Hanau and Rheinfelden. There, management and employees conducted an audit of working conditions, including ways of benefiting families. One result will be a day-care centre for young children. A team of HR staff and works council members is already working on this project.
