Can you describe your role/position at Umicore?

I am a project engineer at the Business Unit Precious Metals Chemistry. I am responsible for planning, realizing and implementing of new plants. This ranges from the design of screws and seals to large reactors with a volume of 4,000 liters.

What do you like about your job?

The variety – every day is a little bit different and I constantly face new technical challenges that have to be solved in a cost-saving and efficient way.

What do you like about working at Umicore?

Umicore is an international company striving to improve sustainability in metal processing and improving its use through recycling and high technology processes.

Why did you want to work at Umicore?

During my master studies, I needed to complete a three-month industrial internship. In 2014, I had the opportunity to complete this internship at Umicore and get to know the company. Towards the end of my studies, a position as project engineer was advertised in the same department. Therefore, it was obvious to apply for this position.

What do you look forward to when you set off to work in the morning?

I look forward to the challenges of the day and how I am going to solve them.

What has been your highlight at Umicore so far?

Every day at Umicore is a highlight.

Any advice for newcomers?

Don’t shy away from new challenges and in every place, you will find colleagues that listen to you.
