Within the framework of PMC’s operational policies and procedures, the Analytical Technician will coordinate, conduct, and manage the analysis of the PMC products with the objective of timely and accurate analysis of intermediate and finished product samples. The technician will ensure analytical services are provided in accordance with customer and quality system requirements and will support new / improved analytical methods for greater sensitivity, accuracy, precision and faster turnaround time.
Purpose of the Job
Performing ICP, gravimetric, wet chemistry, ion chromatography, titration, and other analyses. Technician will coordinate and ensure timely and accurate ICP analysis and wet chemistry processes for the support of production and development products. Responsible for the strict control, maintenance, and improvements of existing analytical test methods, equipment, and calibration requirements to guarantee accuracy and precision. Maintains overall laboratory cleanliness and a safe work environment. A laboratory information management system is used to manage data.
Education and Experience
A BS degree or an Associate’s degree in chemistry is preferred. BS degree with a minimum of 1- 2 years laboratory bench work, or a minimum of 0 – 4 years laboratory experience with an Associate’s degree. (Candidate may be considered if substantial experience with specific job functions, without a degree). Laboratory bench work experience required with proven expertise in Spectroscopy and applications software. A thorough knowledge of the equipment and chemicals used is required. Training and experience in the operation, calibration and method development for specialized equipment such as ICP and wet chemistry is required.
The position requires a specialist in metal analysis with proficiency in accurate and on-time results. Proficient in analytical chemistry. Other important attributes are adherence to methods, people skills, resourcefulness, good numbers sense, ability to work with hands, and problem solving. High regard to Health and Safety issues and regulations pertaining to laboratory facilities.
