About Precious Metal Refining

We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new processes. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

In the frame of Umicore Precious Metals Refining commercial activities, you will assure the external advocacy and representation in the recycling markets and participate to different workgroups related to the general recycling topics. You will improve the UPMR market image by participating actively to industry research projects and contribute to the development of market strategy and market positioning. You will also participate in specific strategic projects (with a horizon of 2 to 5/7 years) for Precious Metals recycling. You will report to the Head of Market Intelligence and Business Research.


  • You are responsible for communication to promote UPMR’s view on recycling and secondaries toward the industry (e.g. OEM’s), government (e.g. national, EU level) and people.
  • You will work out and give presentations to conferences, write articles for related magazines.
  • You participate actively to industry research projects and workshops related to recycling and secondaries.
  • You propose innovative strategic approaches for Precious Metals recycling and recycling in general.
  • You keep contact with related Industry Associations, collection networks, the European Union, National and Local authorities to collect information on recycling and secondary markets.
  • You participate in strategic projects.
  • You identify and create strategic alliances.

Who we are looking for

  • You have a master’s degree in Business or Science.
  • You have a good commercial knowledge. Having a metallurgical background or feeling is a plus.
  • You are a good networker and able to communicate with diverse audiences.
  • You have also strong text writing and reporting skills.
  • You are multilingual (English, Dutch, French and preferably also German).
  • You are a logic and critical thinker and can understand and challenge market and economical concepts. You have both the big picture approach while being also focused on details.
  • You have good planning and organization skills to balance different projects and milestones. You are able to adapt and change priorities in a flexible way.
  • You are willing to travel abroad (10-20%).
