What you will be doing
We are currently looking for a Labor Law and Employee Relations Specialist to join our team in Hanau, Germany. In this role you will be supporting all Umicore’s German sites on overarching topics subject to co-determination, setting the agenda and providing framework, expertise and guidance for all related initiatives, assessing current labour law changes and adapting and developing future company agreements, whilst also providing strategic coaching.
Your role plays an important part in consulting and enabling the HR members and leaders as well as ensuring HR role as Umicore’s labour law expert.
You will be responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency of all employee relations processes, giving direction to and coordinating and aligning all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for successful cooperation with employee representatives at Hanau and for all German sites for overarching topics subject to co-determination
- Advising line managers and the HR colleagues on individual employment law, co-determination law and collective bargaining law issues
- Understanding site related business requirements, drafting and negotiating company agreements with the various employee groups and their representatives
- Analysing change processes or restructurings, with regard to their relevance to collective bargaining law, developing, etc.
- Planning and managing restructuring projects, including key resources, budget, teams and stakeholders
- Solving strategic policy issues relating to working hours, pay, talent management or other key working conditions pro-actively and on request closely collaborating with HR business partners and CoEs
- Independent representation of the employer before the labor courts
- Creation and implementation of training courses on employment law topics for managers and employees especially in the HR department
- Actively monitoring the development of current employment law issues, legislative changes and amendments to national and EU law
- Strategic preparation of fundamental employment law issues and decisions and monitoring their implementation in Germany
- Playing a key role in HR projects and, if necessary, taking on partial project management for coordination with employee representatives
- Act as a support and potential back-up on HR related matters for the Site HR Manager in Hanau
Who we are looking for
Requirements:
- 5-7 years of professional experience in comparable positions in a co-determined company/in a group, an employers' association or a larger commercial law firm in the field of employment law
- Degree in law (fully qualified lawyer – “Volljurist”) with a focus on employment law and experience in dealing with both individual and collective employment law
- Expertise and experience encompasses all functional areas in scope of German labor law and employee relations specialist role
- Proven experience in managing interdisciplinary projects and negotiating complex issues such as company agreements as well as in independently representing at the labor courts.
- Strong labor law and employee relations acumen, tying solutions to business outcomes, and securing trustful collaboration with the employee representatives
- Strong service orientation, confident and fair in negotiations, demonstrating assertiveness
- Very good command of German and English
- A research-minded approach and solid general consulting skills
- Ability to understand and plan for interconnections with other HR areas
