About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

 

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Project Liaison, reporting to the Project Liaison Team Leader. In this role you will be responsible for working with project managers across various projects to assign administrative and support suitable for project needs, coordinating and facilitating the work of others. You will help set up and follow assigned administration flows, arrange and continuously follow up on the overall budget and forecasting for the project engineering team, as well as support on internal and external communications.  

 

Responsibilities

  • SAP key user: create Shopping Carts (SCs), Purchase Orders (POs), and Goods Receipts (GRs) per PM’s request in a timely manner.
  • Update specific project SC/PO/payments with data retrieved from SAP CRM, and provide quarterly and monthly project cost forecast for PM’s and PTE domain manager. Responsible for managing change control through various stages and projects. 
  • Updating the budget files and monitor project budget costs. Compare budgets approved in SAP against costs entered in Planisware. 
    a)    with information from SAP (SC/PO/GR) – for the past data 
    b)    with information from Project Managers – for the forecast 
  • Preparing documentation for coordination meeting and project review. 
  • Manage the project folder, access matrix, maintain project transmittals, archiving engineering deliverables and permitting documents on project server. 
  • Maintaining project document system, (including filing, copying, scanning and tagging of documents during projects.)  
  • Other department administrative work such as organizing the monthly department meeting, annual outing, travel, visitors, teambuilding, etc.
     

 

Who we are looking for

  • Diploma, degree, or non-degree technical / admin courses in relevant subjects combined with prior experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively and contribute to project team
  • Strong computer knowledge (MS Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Good command of English in reading, writing and spoken forms
  • Readiness to work for a pool of technical people
  • Some technical background and experience with projects (working in an engineering office) is an asset
  • Excellent at dealing with conflict resolution.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure, good communication and interpersonal skills
