What you will be doing

The senior project engineer follows a project from proposal to installation. The project engineer is responsible for ensuring that purchase order is fulfilled to the satisfaction of Umicore internal contacts and clients. globally. The project engineer manages internal improvement projects, including design, implementation and providing innovative technology solutions to operations group to improve process flow. The project engineer is a key player in ensuring quality compliance of catalyst products.

Project Management/Engineering
•Manage design work, ensuring it is done pursuant to contract specifications and quality procedures, and is delivered according to project deadlines.
•Manage improvement projects at the plant, including design, quotations, tests, implementation.
•Modify equipment standards to accommodate new element designs.
•Manage specialty element orders, Q, S, Marine/Vibration resistant specialty designs, for marine/engine clients
•Work closely with sales group globally during the proposal phase to ensure deadlines can be met, and design proposed is mechanically feasible.
•"Bridge" between Sales Team and the Plant for element projects
•Communicate with clients throughout projects building and maintaining client relationships
•Responsible for communication with sub-suppliers including quotations, questions, scheduling, quality requirements and delivery of service.

Technical/Sales Management
•Responsible for preparing technical and commercial components of catalyst and technology proposals utilizing Umicore's proprietary kinetic modelling tool. Conducting assessments of customer operations and production process to determine best solution to meet customer engineering expectations
•Research and author technical papers and presentations, represent the company and its products at conferences and exhibitions. Network and explore additional opportunities for Umicore to present its products and brand
•Provide market intelligence and assistance as required to Technical Manger of Power Generation and North American Sales Director for strategic sales and market planning
•Initiate and direct customer terms and conditions review. Liaising with President and legal department to ensure contracts reduce legal liability and meet industry best practices.
•Cultivating innovative salesmanship, comprehension of plant cultures and operation processes, optimize utilization of calculation procedures, pricing for market and engineering

Direct Sales and Customer Development
•Responsible for catalyst replacement projects that require additional technical expertise in mechanical engineering and construction
•Arranging, preparing for and conducting client visits for the purpose of presenting technical presentations. Prioritizing follow up as appropriate to increase market share.
•Provide technical expertise within the industry identifying solutions to process problems associated with SCR reduction. Expanding and developing client base by being a subject matter expert.
After Sales Management
•Troubleshooting and resolving any and all product issues
•Leads all root cause analysis and troubleshooting activities in after sales support for clients. Directing catalyst management programs, sample testing contracts, and proposals. Performing on-site inspections, fostering client relationship through face-to-face contact.
•Review and revise catalyst sample test reports as appropriate. Providing technical guidance to accurately communicate laboratory results to all parties involved.

 

Who we are looking for

Education and Technical Background

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required

Minimum of 10 years Project Engineering experience in the Power Generation Industry with Engineering Sales and/or large Project Management experience preferred

Minimum of 10 years of related industry experience 

Sales skills:

Communicating professionally and in a timely manner with customers

Able to develop and maintain long term customer and vendor relationships

Understanding of bidding process, payment plans, and delivery terms 

Behavioral Competencies

Ability to maintain relationships with colleagues and customers

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with staff and customers

Able to work with a diverse group from different backgrounds and different disciplines

Excellent conflict management skills 

Language Skills                                           

Strong oral and written communication skills 

Mathematical Skills                                                    

Expertise in algebra, calculus, engineering physics
