Changes in Umicore’s Executive Committee
Umicore announced today that Pascal Reymondet, Executive Vice President Catalysis, will retire as planned on 31 January 2019.
Pascal joined Degussa in 1989 and Umicore’s Executive Committee in 2003 upon the acquisition of PMG. He took over responsibility for the Catalysis business group in 2012. Under his leadership, the Automotive Catalysts business unit has expanded considerably and strengthened its technology offering in several application segments. This activity is now very well positioned to benefit from significant further growth as new, more stringent emission standards are being phased in around the globe. At the same time, Pascal has guided the strategic development of Precious Metals Chemistry and prepared the business unit for significant growth in applications such as fuel cells and organometallics.
Pascal will be replaced as Executive Vice President Catalysis by Ralph Kiessling.
Ralph is 53, a German national and currently Senior Vice President Operations for Automotive Catalysts. He joined Degussa in 1995 and has occupied successive management functions in production, process technology and engineering, including 5 years in China. In 2012 he moved to India where he built Umicore’s automotive catalyst plant and ran the activity in the region before returning to Germany in 2015 as Vice President of Operations. Ralph has, over the years, developed a unique operational experience internationally. He has a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Erlangen, Germany.
Commenting on the changes, Umicore CEO Marc Grynberg said: “While I will miss Pascal’s sharp insights and vast operational experience, I would like to thank him for his remarkable engagement and contribution to the success of Umicore and wish him every happiness in his retirement. At the same time, I look forward to welcoming Ralph to the Executive Committee which will benefit from his operational insights and technology background.”

Pascal a rejoint Degussa en 1989 et le Comité de direction d’Umicore en 2003 lors de l’acquisition de PMG. Il a repris la responsabilité du business group Catalysis en 2012. Sous sa direction, la business unit Automotive Catalysts s’est élargie considérablement et a renforcé son offre technologique dans plusieurs secteurs d’applications. Cette activité est désormais en très bonne position pour bénéficier d’intéressantes perspectives de croissance au fur et à mesure de la mise en place de nouvelles normes d'émission plus strictes à travers le monde. Simultanément, Pascal a guidé le développement stratégique de Precious Metals Chemistry et a préparé cette business unit à accroître significativement son activité dans des applications telles que les piles à combustible et les produits organométalliques.
Pascal sera remplacé en tant qu’Executive Vice-President de Catalysis par Ralph Kiessling.
Ralph a 53 ans, est de nationalité allemande et assume actuellement le poste de Senior Vice-President des Opérations pour les activités Automotive Catalysts. Il a rejoint Degussa en 1995 et a occupé des fonctions de direction successives dans les domaines de la production, de la technologie des procédés et de l’ingénierie, passant 5 années en Chine. En 2012, il s’est installé en Inde où il a construit l’usine de catalyseurs automobiles d’Umicore et dirigé l’activité dans la région avant de rentrer en Allemagne en 2015 en tant que Vice President des Opérations. Au fil des ans, Ralph a développé une expérience opérationnelle unique sur le plan international. Il est titulaire d’un doctorat en génie chimique de l’université d’Erlangen, en Allemagne.

Umicore heeft vandaag bekendgemaakt dat Pascal Reymondet, Executive Vice President Catalysis, zoals gepland op 31 januari 2019 met pensioen zal gaan.
Pascal startte in 1989 bij Degussa en vervoegde in 2003, na Umicore’s overname van PMG, het Directiecomité van Umicore. In 2012 werd hij verantwoordelijk voor de business group Catalysis. Onder zijn leiding is de business unit Automotive Catalysts aanzienlijk gegroeid en heeft de activiteit haar technologisch aanbod in verscheidene toepassingssegmenten versterkt. De activiteit is nu uitstekend geplaatst om voordeel te halen uit een enorme verdere groei dankzij nieuwe en strengere emissienormen die wereldwijd worden ingevoerd. Tegelijkertijd heeft Pascal de strategische ontwikkeling van Precious Metals Chemistry gestuurd en de business unit voorbereid op een belangrijke groei in toepassingen zoals brandstofcellen en organometalen.
Pascal zal als Executive Vice President Catalysis worden vervangen door Ralph Kiessling.
Ralph is 53, heeft de Duitse nationaliteit en is momenteel Senior Vice President Operations voor de business unit Automotive Catalysts. Hij begon in 1995 bij Degussa en heeft opeenvolgende managementfuncties bekleed in productie, procestechnologie en engineering, waaronder 5 jaar in China. In 2012 verhuisde hij naar India, waar hij Umicore’s fabriek van autokatalysatoren bouwde en de regionale activiteiten leidde, tot hij in 2015 als Vice President Operations naar Duitsland terugkeerde. Ralph heeft in de loop der jaren een unieke operationele ervaring op internationaal niveau verworven. Hij heeft een PhD in Chemical Engineering van de Universiteit van Erlangen in Duitsland.
