Liat Ben-Zur and Gérard Lamarche nominated to join Umicore’s Board of Directors
Upon proposal by the Nomination & Remuneration Committee, Liat Ben-Zur and Gérard Lamarche have been nominated to join Umicore’s Board of Directors. The nominations of the two new directors will be presented for approval by Umicore’s shareholders at the Annual General Meeting on 25 April.
Current Directors Jonathan Oppenheimer, Barbara Kux and Ian Gallienne will step down at the AGM at the end of April.

About Liat Ben-Zur
Liat Ben-Zur, who is 40 and of US nationality, is Senior Vice President and Digital Technology Leader at Royal Philips where she is responsible for driving the connectivity & digital strategy across the company. In this capacity, she has reshaped the innovation process at Philips to ensure the interoperability of healthcare products, reuse of common software, and led an organisation that develops Internet of Things (IoT) partnerships and solutions for Philips’ businesses.
Prior to joining Philips in 2014, she had occupied a number of leadership positions at the US wireless telecommunications company Qualcomm. Between 2013 and 2014, Liat Ben-Zur was co-founder and Chairwoman of AllSeen Alliance, a cross industry consortium to advance an open source, common language for the Internet of Things.
Liat Ben-Zur holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from University of California Davis and a master’s in business administration from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management.
About Gérard Lamarche
Gérard Lamarche, 55 and of Belgian nationality, is Co-CEO of Groupe Bruxelles Lambert (GBL). He has been Co-CEO of GBL since 2012 and over the past five years has overseen the transformation of the company’s investment strategy and portfolio.
He began his career in 1983 with Deloitte Haskins & Sells in Belgium. In 1988, he joined Société Générale de Belgique as an Investment Manager and was promoted to Controller in 1989 before becoming Advisor to the Strategy and Planning Department in 1992. From 1995 to 1997, he was the Secretary of the Executive Committee of Suez and was later appointed Senior Vice President in charge of Planning, Control and Accounting. In 2000, he joined NALCO (the US subsidiary of the Suez Group) as General Managing Director. He was appointed CFO of the Suez Group in 2003.
Gérard Lamarche is Director of LafargeHolcim, Total, and SGS.
He is a graduate in Economic Sciences from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, and the INSEAD Business School (Advanced Management Program for Suez Group Executives).
Sur proposition du Comité de Nomination et de Rémunération, Liat Ben-Zur et Gérard Lamarche seront proposés pour siéger en qualité de membres du Conseil d'administration d'Umicore. La nominations des nouveaux administrateurs sera soumise au vote des actionnaires d'Umicore lors de l'Assemblée générale annuelle, le 25 avril.
Les administrateurs actuels, Jonathan Oppenheimer, Barbara Kux et Ian Gallienne, remettront leur mandat lors de l'Assemblée générale annuelle, fin avril.

De nationalité américaine, Lia Bent-Zur (40 ans) est Senior Vice President and Digital Technology Leader chez Royal Philips, où elle est responsable de la mise en place de la stratégie Connectivité et Numérique dans toute l'entreprise. À ce titre, elle a remodelé le processus d'innovation chez Philips pour assurer l'interopérabilité des produits de soins de santé et la réutilisation de logiciels communs. Elle a dirigé une structure qui développe des partenariats et des solutions dans le domaine de l’Internet des Objets pour les entités de Philips.
Avant de rejoindre Philips en 2014, elle avait occupé plusieurs postes de direction chez Qualcomm, l'entreprise de télécommunications américaine. De 2013 à 2014, Liat Ben-Zur a été cofondatrice et présidente d’AllSeen Alliance, un consortium intersectoriel chargé de développer un langage open source commun pour l’Internet des objets.
Liat Ben-Zur est titulaire d'un bachelier en électrotechnique de l'université de Californie à Davis et d'un master en administration des affaires de l’Anderson School of Management de l’UCLA.

Op voorstel van het Benoemings- en remuneratiecomité werden Liat Ben-Zur en Gérard Lamarche voorgedragen om toe te treden tot de Raad van Bestuur van Umicore. De benoemingen van de twee nieuwe bestuurders zullen op 25 april tijdens de jaarlijkse Algemene Vergadering van Umicore ter goedkeuring worden voorgelegd aan de aandeelhouders.
De huidige bestuurders Jonathan Oppenheimer, Barbara Kux en Ian Gallienne zullen aftreden na afloop van de Algemene Vergadering eind april.

Over Liat Ben-Zur
Liat Ben-Zur is 40 jaar en heeft de Amerikaanse nationaliteit. Ze is Senior Vice President en Digital Technology Leader bij Royal Philips, waar ze verantwoordelijk is voor het aansturen van de connectiviteit en digitale strategie van het bedrijf. In die functie hervormde ze het innovatieproces bij Philips om de interoperabiliteit van gezondheidszorgproducten en het hergebruik van gewone software te verzekeren en leidde ze een organisatie die Internet of Things (IoT) partnerschappen en oplossingen voor de activiteiten van Philips ontwikkelt.
Voor ze in dienst trad bij Philips in 2014 bekleedde ze een aantal leidinggevende posities bij het Amerikaanse draadloze telecommunicatiebedrijf Qualcomm. Over Gérard Lamarche
Gérard Lamarche is 55 jaar en heeft de Belgische nationaliteit. Hij is sinds 2012 Co-CEO van Groep Brussel Lambert (GBL) en hield de voorbije vijf jaar toezicht op de transformatie van de investeringsstrategie en -portefeuille van het bedrijf.
Hij begon zijn loopbaan in 1983 bij Deloitte Haskins & Sells in België. In 1988 trad hij in dienst bij Société Générale de Belgique als Investment Manager en werd bevorderd tot Controller in 1989, voor hij adviseur werd bij het departement Strategie en Planning in 1992.
