Umicore acquires full ownership of automotive catalyst JV in Korea
Umicore today announced the acquisition of the combined 50% shareholdings of Samkwang Glass Ind. Co., Ltd. and OCI Company Ltd. in the South Korean automotive catalyst joint venture, Ordeg Co. Ltd. for € 82 million (KRW 100 billion). Umicore – which previously held 50% of the equity – now has full ownership of Ordeg which should enable the company to better address the global needs of its Korean automotive catalyst customers.
Ordeg was established in 1985 and has become a leading supplier of emission control catalysts to Korean automotive producers. Ordeg currently employs 193 people. The main production facility is in Onsan and the company recently inaugurated a new technical and technology centre in Songdo, near Seoul.

The transaction will contribute immediately to the earnings of Umicore.

Co., Ltd. et OCI Company Ltd de la coentreprise de catalyseurs automobiles en Corée, Ordeg Co. Ltd, pour un montant de € 82 millions (KRW 100 milliards). Umicore qui détenait jusqu’à présent 50% des fonds propres, possède maintenant la totalité d’Ordeg, ce qui devrait permettre à l’entreprise de mieux répondre aux besoins de ses clients coréens sur le marché des catalyseurs automobiles.
Ordeg a été fondée en 1985 et est devenu un fournisseur leader de catalyseurs de contrôle des émissions pour les constructeurs automobiles coréens. Ordeg emploie actuellement quelque 193 personnes. Le principal site de production se situe à Onsan et l’entreprise a récemment inauguré un nouveau centre technique et technologie à Songdo, près de Séoul.

Ordeg werd in 1985 opgericht en groeide uit tot één van de marktleiders in uitstootkatalysatoren voor Koreaanse autoproducenten. Ordeg stelt op dit ogenblik 193 medewerkers te werk. De belangrijkste productiefaciliteit bevindt zich in Onsan en Ordeg opende recent een nieuw technologieontwikkelingscentrum in Songdo nabij Seoul.
