About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

 

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Customer Quality Engineer reporting to the Quality Manager. In this role you will be responsible ensuring that all customer quality requirements, including agreed specification and customer specific requirements are implemented within the organization. You will also implement quality standards, develops and implement customer quality strategies and regulations, assess potential risks, and give recommendations to ensure compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Management of the customer’s requests and complaints, including coordination with the relevant departments.
  • Coordination of the CSR (Customer Specific Requirements) and improvement of the Quality Management System.
  • Coordination of the meetings related to customer quality issues and sharing the customer requirements in order to implement them urgently and smoothly.
  • Coordination and performing customer qualification (PPAP) and regular/irregular audits.
  • Coordination of the customer’s requirements with relevant departments.
  • Effective Implementation of quality improvement action plans
  • Promotion of the use of customer preferred tools for continuous improvement such as Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis etc.
  • Participation in the development and improvement of Process FMEA’s (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Control Plan to reflect customer’s expectation.
  • Manage and coordination the customer’s defective rate.

 

Who we are looking for

  •   Bachelor Degree or College Diploma with 3+ years planning experience in a quality management systems and quality control
  •   Knowledge of the requirements of ISO9001, IATF16949. Knowledge of  VDA is an asset
  •   Knowledge of variety of systems & tools applied in operational excellence (lean 6 sigma, VSM, TOC, TPM, 5S) and experience in implementing    continuous improvement within quality management
  •   Risk analysis knowledge (FMEA, RCA)
  •   Knowledge of statistical tools
  •   Knowledge of more advanced digital tools, such as PowerBi is a plus
  •   Good communicator, strong interpersonal skills, promoter of cross-department cooperation
