What you will be doing

Join our dynamic team as a People & Organization (P&O) Business Partner for North America, where you'll play a pivotal role in driving growth and transformation initiatives! Reporting to the Head of P&O of Battery Materials, you'll step into a newly created role that promises excitement and impact.

 

Your mission:

  • Lead the charge in fostering people growth and transformation at our Loyalist site and beyond for Battery Materials.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching support to the SVP Business Development Battery Materials and Regional Responsible North America.
  • Implement the overarching P&O strategy for Battery Materials and the Umicore global P&O transformation strategy within the region.
  • Orchestrate front-line support services across North America, covering talent management, compensation & benefits, P&O operations, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, and change management.

 

This role offers flexibility, with the option to be based either in our Loyalist Township facility in Ontario, Canada (preferably), or in Burlington, Ontario, with a minimum 50% presence in Loyalist.

 

Responsibilities:

 

P&O Strategy & Vision Execution:

  • Collaborate closely with regional business leads to align P&O vision with business strategy and projected growth.
  • Streamline P&O processes for the NA region while upholding global guidelines and fostering harmonization.
  • Champion Umicore's values and culture throughout the organization.

 

Consulting, Advising & Coaching:

  • Provide proactive guidance to leaders on workforce solutions, talent management, employee engagement, and more.
  • Align the global business partners, the NA P&O site Lead(s) and NA Centre of Excellences (CoEs) & Operations leads for a consistent employee experience and regional business needs
  • Accountable for P&O escalation topics at a regional level
  • Collaborate with CoEs to tailor regional specific P&O solutions
  • Offer feedback on NA P&O policies, processes, and programs to drive harmonization.
  • Support future capability development and succession planning for the BM unit.
  • Advise on organizational design and job descriptions based on current and future needs.

 

Programs & Projects:

  • Translate global guidelines into NA P&O programs & projects and ensure timely implementation.
  • Coordinate Business P&O strategies, initiatives, and programs, promoting collaboration and unification.
  • Drive initiatives to enhance employee experience, engagement, and well-being within NA BM.

 

Who we are looking for:

 

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field;
  • 15+ years of P&O/ HR experience, including business partnering and working with P&O/HR shared services and various Centres of Excellence teams
  • Proven ability to advise business leaders and collaborate in a matrix setup
  • Experience in driving change management initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Experience in an international industrial/manufacturing environment, consisting of multiple sites and offices
  • Solid knowledge of compensation, talent management, talent acquisition, employee & labour relations, organizational design, workforce planning, and change management
  • Solid understanding of North-American P&O/HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations with specific focus on Canadian law and practices
  • Ability to provide insights regarding organizational design
  • Data & analytical capability
  • Experience in leadership coaching
  • Ability to bring new ideas with a critical mindset and to challenge status quo
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal (mediating and influencing), and leadership skills
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
