What you will be doing

Umicore is looking for a Network Platform Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and security. With your 5-10 years of industry experience (manufacturing, production preferred), you'll bring a helicopter view to safeguarding all network channels and internal systems. While no certifications are mandatory, you will possess strong expertise in Cisco technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) using Cisco technologies.
  • Configure and manage network protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, etc.).
  • Implement and maintain network security best practices to safeguard all network channels and internal systems.
  • Analyze and implement security controls to mitigate risks.
  • Review and approve network change requests, ensuring adherence to security policies and standards.
  • Monitor network performance, identify and troubleshoot network issues.
  • Participate in network capacity planning and upgrades.
  • Automate network tasks using scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) (desirable).
  • Document network configurations and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure network integration with applications and services.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest networking technologies and best practices.

Who we are looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5-10 years of experience working with Cisco networking technologies in an enterprise environment, with a focus on manufacturing or production environments (highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, routing, switching, security principles etc.).
  • Experience with network troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining network security best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
