About Umicore Battery Materials in Canada

Umicore is preparing to build a battery materials production plant in Loyalist Township, Ontario - the first of its kind in North America. The cutting-edge facility will be a critical part of Canada’s electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. Throughout the design, construction, and operation of the plant, Umicore will be seeking a variety of professionals who share our passion for innovation and sustainability.

What you will be doing

For this new site, we are looking for a Quality Management Systems Engineer reporting to the Quality Manager. In this role you will be responsible for helping in the  build up of the Loyalist site Quality Management System, which acts as the system for storing all site procedures by department. This role also helps set up the QMS policies by which all documents will be maintained, updated and reviewed on set frequencies as well as supporting the ISO 90001 and IATF 16949 certification and audit processes.

Responsibilities

• Building  and maintaining the site Quality Management System while ensuring that the QMS adheres to all Umicore Battery Materials and customer certification requirements
• Review cycles, system updates/maintenance, change management.
• Support the quality certification processes (ISO 90001, IATF 16949)
• Support customer qualification (PPAP) and regular/irregular audits, including pre-audit preparation
• Internal and external audit support and improvement.
• Management of non-conformities.
• Participation in the development and improvement of Process FMEA’s (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and Control Plan.
• Set up standard ways of working and templates for QMS documentation
• Support site departments in working with the site QMS by providing documentation, training, feedback and support
   

Who we are looking for

• Bachelor Degree or College Diploma with 3+ years of experience in a quality management system and quality control
• Passion for Quality systems and procedures
• Knowledge of the requirements of ISO9001, IATF16949 and VDA is a plus
• Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (set up and operation)
• Knowledge of variety of systems & tools applied in operational excellence (lean 6 sigma, VSM, TOC, TPM, 5S) and experience in implementing continuous improvement within quality management
• Knowledge of SharePoint development
• Knowledge of more advanced digital tools, such as PowerBi is a plus
• Good communicator, strong interpersonal skills, promoter of cross-department cooperation
