About RBM

We are all on the move. Umicore’s rechargeable battery materials give people autonomy and connectivity. We are a pioneer in battery materials that give added range and performance to electric vehicles. Our materials also ensure longer battery life for portable electronics. To enable our customers to produce even better performing batteries we cannot stand still. We need to find new ways to do things, discover new solutions and develop new ideas. Which is where you come in.

What you will be doing

1. Innovation R&D Researcher(Application)

Umicore R&D has achieved a strong position as R&D partner and cathode supplier for emerging battery technology companies like SSB start-ups. We need to keep and further strengthen this position. The main purpose is to manage and further develop internal solid state battery testing.

  • Development of electrochemical methods
  • Standard electrochemical testing, data analysis and reporting
  • Preparation of TDP
  • Cowork with / support of AT and OI in customer collaborations
  • Limited cathode activities (fx. SSB specific surface coating)

2. Innovation R&D Researcher(Cathode)

The purpose is to (a) scaleup technology transferred from CRD (b) supporting R&D related to scale-up processes, sample preparation and cathode improvement (c) piloting and customer sampling and (d) support JDA collaborations. In the 1st year the researcher will contribute to relocate and set-up application lab at site 4. Development of electrochemical methods

  • Cathode preparation and piloting
  • Supporting R&D (process and piloting)
  • Cathdoe R&D (improvements of products, product evaluation, ..)
  • JDA support and customer sampling
  • Cowork with AT and OI in customer collaborations, preparing TDP, sampling planning etc.
  • Cowork with CRD application and RBM battery for cathode and application R&D
