Umicore to acquire Eurotungstene from the Eramet Group
Umicore announced today that it has signed a share purchase agreement to acquire 100% of Eurotungstene, a company within the Eramet Group specialised in developing, manufacturing and marketing metal powders used in diamond tools and hard metal applications.
The acquisition of Eurotungstene, which will be integrated into the Cobalt & Specialty Materials business unit, brings together two businesses with complementary strengths. It will allow Umicore to broaden its product portfolio to better serve the needs of its diamond tool customers by relying on Eurotungstene’s in-depth technical know-how, operational experience and diversified product portfolio. It will also allow Umicore to offer tungsten-based materials to hard metal customers.

Closing of this transaction, which remains subject to customary closing conditions, is anticipated to occur in the first half of 2017.

L’acquisition d’Eurotungstène, qui sera intégrée à la business unit Cobalt & Specialty Materials, permet de combiner deux entreprises aux atouts complémentaires. Elle permettra à Umicore d’élargir son portefeuille de produits afin de mieux répondre aux besoins de ses clients du secteur des outils diamantés en s’appuyant sur le savoir-faire technique de pointe, l’expérience opérationnelle et le portefeuille de produits diversifié d’Eurotungstène. Par ailleurs, Umicore pourra désormais également proposer des matériaux à base de tungstène aux clients du secteur des métaux durs.

Umicore kondigde vandaag aan dat ze een koopovereenkomst heeft ondertekend voor de volledige overname van Eurotungstene, een bedrijf binnen de Eramet Group dat gespecialiseerd is in de ontwikkeling, productie en commercialisering van metaalpoeders voor diamantwerktuigen en hardmetaalapplicaties.
De overname van Eurotungstene, dat in de business unit Cobalt & Specialty Materials geïntegreerd zal worden, brengt twee activiteiten met complementaire troeven bij elkaar. Voor Umicore betekent dit een verruiming van haar productportefeuille om nog meer tegemoet te komen aan de behoeften van haar klanten in de sector van diamantwerktuigen. En dit dankzij de diepgaande technische knowhow, de operationele expertise en het gediversifieerde productaanbod van Eurotungstene. Bovendien zal Umicore voortaan ook grondstoffen op basis van wolfraam kunnen aanbieden aan hardmetaalklanten.
