FAQ
We focus on homogeneous catalysis across: cross‑coupling, amination, metathesis, hydrogenation, hydroformylation, carbonylation, and hydrosilylation. Beyond organometallics, the Inorganics (INC) line includes high‑purity metal salts, oxides, and tailor‑made inorganic precursors used in catalysis and fine‑chemical production. Our API activities cover the development and manufacturing of platinum‑based and non‑platinum oncology APIs and intermediates.
Representative families for homogeneous catalysis include: Buchwald pre‑catalysts, Grubbs Catalyst® & Hoveyda–Grubbs, YPhos ligands, MeNAP, TMCat (Ni), plus NHC, vinyl‑siloxane and other Pd platforms, all mapped to the technologies above.
Inorganics (INC) portfolio: high-purity metal salts, solutions, and tailor‑made inorganic precursors based on Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru, Ir, and Au,
API portfolio: platinum‑based oncology APIs and non-PGM APIs such as Arsenic Trioxide.
Yes - depending on the application, we can recommend nickel based or other non-PGM solutions (e.g., TMCat Ni) where they offer performance and cost advantages.
Send your request via the PMC contact form (reason, product name or application, indicative quantity range, delivery location). We’ll advise on availability and next steps. (Format mirrors Catalysis contact flows for consistency.)
We support a range from small evaluation quantities to multi‑kilogram supply for scale‑up and in addition small to large commercial manufacture, subject to product type and region.
Typical documentation includes safety data sheets (SDS) and Product Specification for qualifying products and sites.
SDS are provided on request or at shipment, depending on the product and jurisdiction. Your PMC contact will supply the correct language/region version.
Regulatory support is available per substance and jurisdiction; we can share the relevant statements for qualifying products.
We combine high‑performance catalysis with responsible precious‑metal sourcing and closed‑loop solutions, reflecting Umicore’s broader sustainability commitments.
Yes. Through Umicore’s precious metals platform, we support a broad set of metal related services including i.e. metal accounts, transfers, leasing or recycling to manage cost and supply risk alongside product delivery.
Umicore holds relevant industry certifications such as LMBA certified Conflict Free Gold and is being listed as such as “Good Delivery” refiner. Certificates, related statements and scope are available on request for your qualification packages.
Yes, depending on the stream and composition, we can evaluate and, if suitable, bring material into a closed loop to return value to your account.
We work with approved logistics providers and align with Umicore’s Transport Security Standard. The used Incoterms are typically agreed with our customers.
Yes, where applicable, we arrange temperature controlled and dangerous goods compliant shipments through vetted partners meeting Umicore security and safety requirements.
Lead time depends on product, stock status, region and metals arrangements. Actual lead times are indicated in our quotes or are subject to a mutually agreed delivery plan.
Yes. We support catalyst/ligand selection, conditions of scouting, and scaleup considerations (e.g., activation, residual metal control, recyclability). Collaboration formats range from directional guidance to joint development, case by case.
Where justified by the application, we can explore tailormade solutions. We’ll outline feasibility, IP, timeline, and supply/metal implications together with you.
All platinum-based oncology APIs (cisplatin, carboplatin, oxaliplatin) produced by Umicore, are marketed for Umicore by Heraeus Precious Metals in all regions outside of South America, which includes Europe and the rest of the world.
Within South America, Umicore continues to market and sell its platinum-based APIs directly. The production of all APIs takes place at Umicore´s site in Argentina.
All non-platinum APIs produced at Umicore’s Argentina site, including Arsenic Trioxide, continue to be fully marketed by Umicore worldwide. Products that are manufactured exclusively for individual customers remain supplied under their respective contractual agreements.
Use the contact form at the bottom of this page and select the most relevant reason; your request will be routed to the right regional team.
