About Cobalt & Speciality Materials
Mastering the cobalt value chain. Umicore’s expertise covers the sourcing, production and distribution of cobalt and nickel products. Umicore’s materials are at the heart of products we use every day such as rechargeable batteries, tools, paints and tyres. What you will be doing
As our Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting capital and expansion projects in our chemical manufacturing facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana. Specifically, this will include:
- Implementing and managing safety-related programs for production, warehouse, and office activities;
- Managing biomonitoring testing programs and ensuring appropriate protection measures are in place to maintain exposure limits below defined levels;
- Identifying and managing PPE equipment and programs;
- Leading monthly site safety meetings and facilitating safety committee meetings;
- Creating and delivering new employee and contractor safety training and orientation;
- Managing job safety analyses and participating in occupational and process safety incident reviews, which includes assisting with investigations;
- Managing the site’s Risk Awareness Program and cultivating a strong culture focused on safety;
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring leading safety indicators;
- Supporting and participating in Safe Work Permit programs and retention of records;
- Maintaining working relationships with governmental agencies and ensuring all safety-related inspections reflect compliance with applicable requirements; and,
- Performing other duties as needed.
Who we are looking for
Our success is based on individuals who are ready to make the most of their skills and prepared to tackle any challenge they face. As well as a Bachelor’s degree in a business or science field (Environmental Sciences preferred), you should have:Â
- At least 5 years’ hands-on experience with safety in a manufacturing environment;
- Experience providing employee training and making presentations;
- Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices;
- Team-building skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work well independently; and,
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Additional Information
This position is based at the Palm Commodities International, LLC facility in LaVergne, Tennessee and will also support a facility in Port Allen, Louisiana. Some travel will be required.Â
