What you will be doing
- Lead the full site emergency planning organisation, including crisis management and coordination with external emergency services.
- Develop, implement and maintain a robust fire prevention and fire protection strategy aligned with SEVESO legislation.
- Manage and coach the internal fire brigade (approx. 60 members) ensuring operational readiness, training, and high-quality interventions.
- Oversee the creation, execution and continuous improvement of the internal emergency plan and emergency scenarios.
- Act as process owner for Process Safety Management, including ATEX governance, explosive safety documentation (EVD) and recurrent risk analyses.
- Lead, coach and develop RA teams (leads, scribes, support) to strengthen risk management competencies across the site.
- Ensure process safety integration in design, engineering and modifications of installations, working closely with Production, Maintenance and Technology.
- Identify risks, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, conduct incident investigations and translate learnings into improvement plans.
- Engage with authorities, regulatory bodies and inspection services in the framework of SEVESO, crisis management and fire prevention compliance.
- Monitor relevant legislation and standards (fire prevention, process safety, ATEX) and translate them into site procedures and projects.
Who we are looking for
- Master’s degree in engineering (chemical, industrial or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant operational experience (fire safety, process safety, crisis management). Having obtained the Level 1 Prevention Advisor Certificate is an asset.
- Strong expertise in fire protection, fire prevention and emergency response in an industrial SEVESO environment.
- In-depth knowledge of process safety, risk management methods, ATEX, hazard analysis and relevant legislation.
- Proven leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, facilitating cross-functional cooperation.
- Analytical, structured and decisive mindset with strong organisation and planning abilities.
- Skilled in coaching, training and developing teams and individuals in safety competencies.
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
