What you will be doing

As our Project Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting capital and expansion projects in our chemical manufacturing facilities in Tennessee and Louisiana.  Specifically, this will include:

  • Ensuring expansion and capital projects are executed safety, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Collaborating closely with the Process Engineer to define process steps, project scope, design requirements, and execution strategies from early concept through detailed design;
  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors during construction phases, ensuring adherence to project scope, quality standards, and safety expectations;
  • Tracking project progress, costs, risks, and deliverables, providing accurate updates and documentation to management throughout all project phases;
  • Identifying opportunities for process, design, or execution improvements that enhance safety, process safety, efficiency, operability, and long-term asset reliability;
  • Ensuring projects are properly commissioned, documented, and handed over to operations with complete technical documentation;
  • Fostering strong partnerships across EHS, quality, production, maintenance, and procurement functions; and,
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Who we are looking for

Our success is based on individuals who are ready to make the most of their skills and prepared to tackle any challenge they face.  As well as a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, you should have: 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing;
  • Strong technical understanding of chemical processes, piping systems, instrumentation, and controls;
  • Demonstrated experience running and optimizing chemical processes;
  • Capital project management execution and proficiency with project management software (MS Project, Excel);
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with preferred proficiency in AutoCAD plant 3D;
  • Ability to travel periodically;
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work well independently; and,
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Additional Information

This position is based at the Palm Commodities International, LLC facility in LaVergne, Tennessee and will also support a facility in Port Allen, Louisiana.  Pre-employment drug testing is required.
