As technology rapidly evolves, managing electronic waste (e-scrap) responsibly has become a growing challenge. E-scrap is a complex mix of materials, and at Umicore, we have the expertise to accurately sample and assay different types of precious metal bearing e-scrap and recover all valuable and precious metals like silver, gold, palladium, and copper from e-scrap. We operate on an assay-based settlement and recommend removing non-valorized elements like aluminum and iron, as well as batteries for safety. By recycling electronics, we reduce landfill waste and decrease the need for virgin metals, while prioritizing environmental sustainability and adhering to strict industry standards.
We accept various materials for e-scrap recycling, with the following recommended minimum volumes: 10 tonnes of printed circuit boards (PCBs) in different qualities, 2 tonnes of cell phones and small IT devices without batteries, and 1 to 5 tonnes of CPUs, ICs, and connectors. We also process 10 tonnes of laptops without batteries and screens, as well as 25 to 100 tonnes of shredded fractions containing PCBs from mechanical pre-processing. For other precious metal-bearing fractions, please contact us for more information.
