Job Summary

 

The Global Career Framework & Skills Lead is responsible for maintaining, governing, and continuously improving the company’s enterprise-wide career & skills framework, including the taxonomy and ontology. The role ensures that the career framework & its skills function as the strategic enabler of P&O activities; eg workforce planning, talent acquisition, performance & talent management, learning, mobility, succession,…Reports to the VP Global Talent and drives prioritization and adoption with People & Organization and Umicore.

Primary Accountabilities

 

Career Framework & Skills Governance

 

  • Define and own the governance operating model (decision rights, RACI, standards, controls) for the career framework, job profiles and skills.
  • Lead governance forums and cadence (Career Framework Council + working groups) and drive global adoption.
  • Own change control: versioning/release management, exception handling, auditability, and compliance for updates.
  • Own fine-tuning of taxonomy/ontology and skills inference/adjacency logic with data partners.
  • Maintain & future proof skills & career framework
  • Run the quality system + KPIs (coverage, freshness, consistency, utilization) and execute a remediation/continuous-improvement loop.

 

Skills as the engine

 

  • Own and sustain the enterprise-wide Career Framework and skills architecture as a foundational platform for transparent careers and CF-aligned talent processes.
  • Ensure integration of skills and role expectations into priority talent processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Build credible career paths and role/skills guidance; used consistently in talent processes and leader/employee conversations.
  • Shape the skills technology ecosystem across HR platforms and AI tools; partner with P&O Technology/HRIS.
  • Continuously monitor external trends and internal needs to identify emerging capabilities and skill gaps; recommend actions and updates.
  • Translate business strategy into a prioritized multi-year roadmap; align stakeholders on scope, sequencing, and investment.

 

Required Experiences & Skills

 

Proven experience in one or more of the following:

  • Job architecture and enterprise skills frameworks (design, governance, implementation).
  • Talent processes (TA, Talent Management, Learning, Mobility/Workforce Planning, Total Rewards) and stakeholder leadership.
  • HR Technology/HRIS platforms and ecosystems; partnering with HR Tech and data teams.
  • Knowledge of AI, data models, and/or semantic technologies; ability to apply these to skills inference and matching.
  • Skills taxonomy/ontology design; skills inference and adjacency logic.
  • Systems thinking and architectural mindset; strong governance and operating-model design.
  • Project/change management and stakeholder management across regions and functions.
  • Data/analytics skills; ability to build and articulate the business value/case.
