Olen is a center of excellence for research and development, clean technologies, and the production of advanced cobalt- and germanium-based materials. These materials are essential for applications such as rechargeable batteries and solar panels that power space applications. The site combines specialized manufacturing with cutting-edge innovation and is home to several pilot lines for next-generation solutions.

Umicore’s largest site in Germany is located in the Hanau-Wolfgang Industrial Park and employs over 900 people focused on R&D for precious and specialty metal products. As one of Umicore’s main research hubs for clean technologies, it brings together extensive expertise for customers in the automotive, pharmaceutical, chemical, glass, and fertilizer industries.
